The device architecture of the new system looks simple yet smartly scalable with robust and reliable APIs. The company selected three components – Database (DB), Applications, Database Connector (CDC) and Data Exchange Gateway (DEG). These three are responsible for storing the required database system elements like tables, columns, rows etc. The CDC component has two main roles – Database connectors (D) and Data Exchanges (X). The D part acts as an intermediary connector to the internet and stores data required by clients and the X section, on the other hand, runs on Microsoft Azure portal called ‘Azure Storage and Blob storage Service ‘(ASIS) to store data and provide connectivity to external sources. Each module has independent API endpoints for specific use cases. The CDC can interact with DB, App and DEG layers through two APIs namely DB Connectors API and DeG API respectively. Another interface to connect application with the Oracle database is provided by Oracle DeG. When we talk here about building an application, either written by us or another team, then a layer of code known as Apps Layer will be used. Thus, Apps and Apps Layer are directly linked. For example if you are developing a CRM application, you will have only one source code whereas Apps Layer would include some applications and Database to hold data and data for other applications. Finally there is a final step where the old system is downgraded and the newly installed one is upgraded. Once these phases are completed and all is good at last, the website/app which was migrated to old system gets tested again, and same process starts once more. After each such rollback and upgradation, the old system goes back to normal operation in order to avoid further damage. Now a fresh set of test environment is created and started functioning once again in order to test the latest version. So, on the basis of above mentioned steps, all these migration stages can be repeated until the application and its business logic are in the newer system. However, upon this stage, the migrations are not done and continue to work in the older system, thus leading to unpredictable behaviour. Therefore, during the course of migration testing, data related testing of SQL Server 2016 becomes mandatory to ensure smooth flow, performance and maintainability of any database data related tests. Once we reach here, the latest version is rolled out as usual without doing any configuration changes on the side of application developer, to let application become fully functional on the new system and run anywhere without impacting the overall application.
